Where to find Swedish Children's Music Online

When my little boy was about two years old, we all got sick with a vomiting bug.

To buy myself a little time to clean up, I put on some Swedish children’s songs on Youtube. The videos were not great to look at, but the songs sounded okay and he loved it.

Later that day I realised that he had learned the entire lyrics to ‘En liten båt blir ofta våt’ in Swedish, along with some other songs - because he was singing them perfectly!

Although we already used to sing quite a lot in Swedish at home before that, that’s the first time I realised just how incredible music can be for kids to learn a language!

Where to find Swedish children's songs abroad

These days, my little boy knows many of the most popular nursery rhymes in both Swedish and English, and you can find many of them in Swedish for free on Youtube along with many paid for streaming services like Google Music, and Spotify.

Search for Kompisbandet, Mora Träsk, Astrid Lindgren, and Barnkammarboken to get started. I've linked to Youtube here, but if you have a favourite music streaming service then search for the artists there. Then - listen to the songs together and most importantly - sing, dance and dare to be a little bit silly!

I hope you've found this useful - please let me know if you have any suggestions for more places to get hold of Swedish children's music abroad :-)
