Hi, I’m Linda and I’m the Swedish mum writing the books here at Swenglish Life.

Many parents who teach their kids Swedish abroad wonder if it’s really possible to do it all on your own.

As a mum, teaching my son Swedish in the UK, I know just how challenging it can feel sometimes when you’re the only adult speaking your mother language.

It can be tough to stay motivated when they keep replying in English – even though you know they understand every Swedish word you say.

Sound familiar?

My name is Linda Liebrand, and I’m a Swedish mum and author living in the UK with my Dutch husband, bouncy little boy, and Swiss dog.

As you can tell, we're an international bunch and although we mostly speak English at home - I decided to start teaching our little boy Swedish when he was about two years old.

I soon discovered that it’s hard to get hold of Swedish children’s books abroad - and that’s of course what inspired me to develop a range of bilingual children’s books and fun learning materials for kids learning Swedish abroad.

And if you’d like to try a free book, then be sure to sign up for my fun bilingual kids’ newsletter.

Ha det gott - and thanks for stopping by.

What my readers say

“My kids really enjoy this book! We read it more than once. It brings you on an adventure through the magic of Christmas and Swedish culture. My kids are 5, 7, 8 and 10. There is a lot of text in the book, but my 5 year old is still able to listen and follow the wonderful story. The pictures are beautiful! This is a great book to own and also to give away as a gift. It can be read all year around. Even adults will love it, I do :)”

“This is a very cute story that tells the story about farm tomten who gets to visit Yule tomten and help save Christmas. I live in the USA and have two daughters that are 6 and 9 and they enjoyed the book a lot. We first read it in English and then in Swedish which helped them increase their Swedish vocabulary. Both daughters are also working on reading it in Swedish right now. They both like that the book is bilingual since it is easy for them to look up any word in Swedish that they do not know. They both loved looking at the pictures. I was first thinking that the book would only be for little kids but it is written in a way that everyone can enjoy it. I like it since it tells you about the farm tomte that I learned about as a child in Sweden and now my children understands why we have to leave him porridge for Christmas.
I recommend this book to everyone but especially to those that that have bilingual children.”

“Counting Sweden is an excellent Swedish-English bilingual counting book. My one-year old daughter loves all of the illustrations and I love that each number is associated to something culturally Swedish. We point to the pictures and I describe what they are in English and my husband explains in Swedish. We enjoy reading the book as a family and like that we can expose our daughter to the Swedish language and culture.”
